We have some advise for all you mommies -to- be…if you choose to breastfeed, do yourself the favor of getting a quality nursing pillow. You will save yourself from back discomfort and be able to position yourself way more comfy then if you go it alone. Believe us…we know this one thing to be true. We wish we had owned one of Bummis hypoallergenic, super soft pillows the first time around. They call their pillow the Kuddle Ring, and it wins our vote as the best breastfeeding pillow on the market. It has a close fit around your waist and has removable stuffing if the pillow feels too high. Best part? The cover is removable and washable…may not sound necessary to someone who hasn’t breastfed, but you would be amazed at how messy your pillow can get. The whole pillow is washable really, if necessary. Made in Montreal and well know for their cloth diapers, Bummis has created a pillow that really does make breastfeeding easier and more comfortable (and you’ll thank them too after a 3am feeding).
We’re not going to try and make you feel guilty….however…using products that are safe and free of harmful chemicals just makes sense. We’re not perfect and sometimes we all eat fast food (and enjoy it), shop at big box stores and forget to serve veggies with supper, but when it comes to our tot’s skin we think you should use what’s best for them no matter what. We discovered Marie Veronique Organics and heard about their new Kid Safe Screen and we just had to try it. Free from all things nasty, it relies on the non-nano zinc oxide as it’s active ingredient, so you know it’s much safer then anything you pick up at the drug store on the way to the beach. Love the non greasy feel and that it says it can be used around the eyes. We tried it out at the beach last weekend and we’re hooked. Can we be a little shallow and admit we love the posh look too? We’re a sucker for anything packaged in a small, easy to carry silver bottle. Fancy look, safe sun protection, and peace of mind all packed into a stylish container…time to toss the rest of the sun creams out.
You must think we’re nuts for writing about winter hats in the middle of a heat wave. However, we believe that smart mommies know that the good stuff goes first…if you wait till October to buy your tot their winter gear, then you know you’ll be faced with slim pickings. We know we love the styles and originality at Zooni, so we picked two of their snazzy and warm winter hats for our kids this coming season. Our pink Flower Power hat is still in fabulous condition after two years, but we wanted to try out their new bamboo line and chose the Sweet On You cupcake chapeau with matching mittens. Love how soft the fabric feels. We also went for their black and white mop top Skull & Crossbones as our toddler has a wee obsession with pirates. Can’t get the hat away from him….even in 30 degree heat. At least he loves it. Zooni’s handmade hats have been spotted on every A List toddler in celeb land. Everyone from Miss Suri Cruise to Shilo Jolie-Pitt is sporting these fab hats and cosy mitts. Great minds think alike.
Dressing a little boy is heaps more challenging then dressing up a little girl. Thank goodness we heard about CUT By 2 Blondes, an amazing company started by two mommies frustrated with the lack of fashionable and stylish shirts made for boys. Well tailored, super soft & comfy in addition to being amazingly hip, these shirts are made for you tot’s next big party or family gathering. Love the contrasting arms and cuffs…adds a little drama and originality without going over the top. Think Kingston Rossdale or Maddox Jolie-Pitt….very hip indeed. Don’t fret if you don’t live close enough to Fred Segal or Neiman Marcus to see their designs, just check out this list of retailers who carry Cut By 2 Blondes in their stores. We think you’ll become as addicted as we are.
When we first saw the adorable prints from Nature Baby’s Free Range line we were in love…what pregnant mommy wouldn’t swoon at the site of a tiny onesie covered in simple, yet sweet bunnies? We heard that celeb mommy Maggie Gyllenhall is a fan and trust her style instinct. We had to see for ourselves how fabulous their organic line of baby clothes were and when the beautifully wrapped package arrived we must say we did let out a little squeal…another thing pregnant mommies do when baby clothing packages arrive. Inside was the softest onesie we’ve ever felt. Made with organic cotton, these threads are free of nasty chemicals. The patterns and shades are very baby friendly, yet hip enough for mommies who like that modern, simple and minimalist look (think Gwyneth or Angelina). Our favorite piece from their brilliant collection? The Kimono Dress in Grey Merl. We think you’ll agree. After you have a look at their organic line of children’s clothes, have a peek at their gorgeous baby furniture…just as fab as the clothes, if not more.
We always love hearing about new and original baby shower gifts, and when the folks at The Baby Bunch let us know about their new Cupcake Pajama Sets we had to see them for ourselves (loved trying out their cupcake onesies last year). Cleverly disguised as yummy cupcakes packed up in a bakers box with a ribbon, your mommy friends will be more then excited when they open this up at the next baby soirée. Made with super soft cotton, these solid tops and striped bottoms fit babies between 12-18 months nicely. The Baby Bunch impressed Martha Stewart and was featured on her TV show, so you know they are sure to impress your hard to buy for mommy.
